Getting To Know You

At Build Yoga and Wellness yoga is not a one size fits all thing.

We all have different bodies, personalities and physical, mental and emotional patterns. An effective practice respects these differences and addresses them.

Most people today think yoga is just the practice of different poses. But, yoga is so much more. It is a many layered living tradition full of ideas and different practices to help you transform your life.

Developing or deepening a yoga practice doesn't mean mastering progressively more complex and difficult poses. Your practice needs to be relevant to who you are and your current life situation.

The new In depth study program, Getting To Know You, is about learning and applying the practices of the greater yoga tradition to explore and expand your relationship with yourself and to help you create or deepen a yoga practice that is right for you. It consists of four 3-hour classes, a day long yoga retreat and three private yoga sessions.

The 5 main topics will be:

Nourishing the Physical. Examine asana in personal practice.

Energizing the Vital. Explore the breathe in personal practice.

Educating the Intellect. Learn to listen. Manta and the mind.

Refining Personality. One pointed and self reflective meditation.

Fulfilling the Heart. Chanting as a gateway to the heart.

So, what are you working on? Explore and expand your relationship to yourself from your outer most skin to your inner Self.

The first four classes are 9:00 - noon, Sunday’s 9/22, 10/20, 11/17, 12/15 at the Nacul Center, 592 Main St, Amherst, MA.

The fifth class is part of a day long retreat on Sunday, January, 19, 2020 at the Sirius Community, 72 Baker Rd, Shutesbury, MA.

Yoga for Strength

Get in better shape with a moderate to vigorous class focused on safely developing strength. Balance flexibility and strength to heal and prevent injuries by learning the fundamentals and refinements of an intelligent practice. Get smart about the way you get stronger!

Building strength is as much an inside job as building muscle. It requires consistent, regular practice to generate and direct your energy. Through practice you learn to see yourself more clearly; your strengths, limitations, the obstacles that hold you back and how to work with them. To get stronger you have to get kinder.

Yoga For Stiff People

A slower to moderate paced class focused on the foundations of a safe and healing yoga practice. Great for beginners and people with injuries. This class will instruct the building blocks for a beneficial yoga practice through primary yoga poses and fundamental alignment principles.
